TO EACH HIS OWN MASK

I adore this crusade! I may have to take spooky art with me into the rest of the year. Thanks again, Michelle! Another Goth gal complete with rusty bottle cap lips, a cactus needle for a nose ring, high hair bun made of Italian art, feathers, paper & beads. Each of the gals in the series feel so real to me, I may connect them with my writing and do character sketches or a story. http://michelleward.typepad.com/how_cool_is_that/

The sort of mask we may wear on a regular day.

"SUA CUIQUE PERSONA"
Translation: TO EACH HIS OWN MASK

I would love to see your own mask! The paradox of finding identity in masquerading identity has delighted cultures for centuries. Only 5 days left to join in on this month's crush!

A SIGN LOL WAS GETTING BETTER

A Sign Lol Was Getting Better
Walking along the cart path, yesterday

late afternoon,

Lol saw what looked like

a piece of handmade paper dangling

from a branch of the Desert Mesquite.

She reached upward, took

the delicate wisp between her thumb and index

finger and felt its fragility.

Lol called the scrap a shred of the wren's home,

folded it into quarters and
placed it inside

the large empty pocket of her windbreaker.

She would look at it more closely

tomorrow.

L'ORANGE

The prompt this week on http://studiofriday.org/ is Orange. This ornament was thus created!

Beyond Halloween and Autumn pallettes, orange is a passionate color associated with the second chakra, emotion and sexual energy.

I love to hang ornaments around my studio all year; they are festive, joyful decorative elements that bring dimension, interest and meditative points upon which to gaze. The marigolds atop the ornament bring me to the intersection of art and nature, a place I love. I will likely allow the flowers to simply dry on top of the ornament. Should they continue to add to the piece, I may preserve and attach them.

WHAT A DRAG IT IS.......

The prompt this week on Wednesday Stamper is Growing Old. MMMMMM.......bit of a coincidence, today is my birthday. The title of this post is facetious. As I hope this collage shares, at every age we have the opportunity for transformation, beauty (Georgia O'Keeffe was stunning at 80),immortality in that which never ends (love), increased compassion, soulfulness, elegance and grace. I can not wait for the day in the future when forgiveness comes automatically to my heart, another gift I hope to receive of growing old.
